This field trip will highlight cave management activities at Carlsbad Caverns National Park over the last 20 years. It will include a discussion of the Carlsbad Cavern Protection Plan, Environmental Assessment (EA), and the many positive structural changes that have been made based on this approved Plan and EA. The lessons learned on managing an active, long-term exploration, survey, and inventory of park caves, including Lechuguilla Cave and Carlsbad Cavern, will also be discussed. Information on other cave management activities will be presented as time allows.
